Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) is an annual Scouting event that uses amateur radio to connect Scouts around the world, across the nation, and in your community. More than 1.5 million in 160 countries participate in JOTA / JOTI each year – its Scouting’s largest worldwide event. The event is free and open to all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers and leaders during the weekend of October 19 – 21. Most stations will be active Friday evening (19th) and all day Saturday (20th). Scouting Advancements and Recognitions
In addition to talking to Scouts from other countries, participants complete requirements for Cub Scout adventures, Boy Scout merit badges and the International Spirit Award. All that, plus JOTA and JOTI offer a hands-on lesson in STEM — the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

There will be an information meeting about the 24th World Scout Jamboree at
7:00 pm – 9:00 PM Thursday March 15, 2017 at the Last Frontier Council Service Center
People considering applying as a youth participant or International Service Team (Staff) are encouraged to attend.
Spaces are open for youth sign ups and a limited number of IST positions.
Parents welcome too. Male and female youth not yet 14 but will be by July 22, 2019 are encouraged to attend. Scouts, Venturers and Explorers are welcome.

Venturing Crew leaders and Venturers for contingent crew(s) are recruiting now to attend the 24th World Scout Jamboree in the summer of 2019.
Venturing Crew youth participant and leadership selection is managed at a regional level for the BSA contingent to the 24th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ). Venturing crews made up from Venturers and crew advisors / associate advisors from the council are encouraged.
Venturing leadership requires a yet to by determined set of adults age 21 or older as advisors or associate advisors. Selected crew advisors and associated advisors should plan on active recruiting youth participants to fill crew quotas.
Venturers must be age 14 – 17 with your birthday between July 22, 2001 and July 21, 2005 to meet age requirements as a youth participant. (The youth participant age restrictions are a WOSM requirement)
The disembark / rally point for proceeding will be the hub city of Little Rock, Arkansas with travel by Amtrak to West Virginia.

All registered Venturers and Advisors are invited to the Last Frontier Council Venturing Open House.
Tuesday, October 25, 6:30 pm at Eagle Lodge at John Nichols Scout Ranch.
We will be electing officers for the Venturing Officer Association, and we will be discussing activities for the remainder of 2016, plus 2017, and 2018.
We will be cooking Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, and have chips and drinks. Please RSVP so we can plan on having food for you.

‘Twas the Campout Before Christmas will be held December 11-13 at Camp George Thomas. The program is going to be great and I am very excited about what we have happening this year. The cost is $20 per person and it includes all your meals.

Council Station Locations
Station KD5UGO, BSA Troop 217 and Troop 245, and the South Canadian Amateur Radio Society volunteers will staff amateur radio stations at Reaves Park, South East Pavilion, 2501 Jenkins Ave, Norman OK Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (CDT)
Scouts and Scouters of all ages welcomed. Registration encouraged to assist with planning. A donation of $5 per Scout will cover merit badge resources and a pizza lunch.
Participating Scouts will:
- Use amateur radios to connect with Scouts in other states and countries
- Complete requirements for the Radio Merit Badge
- Complete a key requirement for the BSA International Spirit Award
- Meet up with other Scouts interested in amateur radio and other scouting activities
